Cantilever rack for long building materials
Cantilever rack for long building materials
This Salt Lake City project used cantilever rack to organize long lumber and building-material loads. Unlike standard pallet rack, cantilever storage keeps the front of each level open, allowing lift equipment to approach the product without working around front columns.
Project details
The rack arms create defined horizontal storage positions so material can be separated by size, type or order. Moving long inventory off the floor improves access and makes better use of vertical space while helping keep travel and staging areas clear. The open configuration also supports loading and unloading products whose length makes conventional pallet positions impractical.
For a lumber operation, the strength of the structure and the spacing of uprights and arms must match the material being stored. The completed installation provides Weyerhaeuser with a durable, purpose-built system for oversized stock and a more orderly way to manage long loads within the existing facility.
