What to know about Keystone Pallet Rack.

Request a Quote
Boltless racking has been popular for years due to its convenient, tool-free assembly and a lower cost. However, open-back roll formed racking hasn’t provided the desired resistance to fork truck impact. Republic has built on the boltless benefits by offering a new design; a closed tubular column shape with significantly improved durability, resulting in an unbeatable racking product. Engineering tests have determined that the high-strength, closed tubular column has over 250% more frontal impact resistance than an equivalent open-back column. Tubular columns offer 44 times more torsional strength and 68% more side impact protection. The three rivet connection also yields 26% more strength than designs with only two rivets. These drastic improvements contributed by Keystone racking have many buyers with damaged open-back racking, turning to the new, closed tubular design as a replacement. Making the switch to a new frame is easy with the tear drop connection in common, allowing customers to use their existing load beams to cut down cost.

Advantages to keystone boltless uprights includes the unique keystone connection slots which allow 2” vertical beam adjustments with a tight fit under heavy loads. Holes punched into the face of the column instead of the corners, help to reduce strength loss. Accessory holes on the sides of columns accommodate the use of bolt-in-row spacers and wall ties. Utilizing Keystone Step beams also offers a number of benefits. Step beams feature a 1 5/8" step for decking or pallet support bar positioning. Columns are constructed using high-strength beams of steel with a minimum capacity of 55,000 pounds of force per square inch. Beams are composed of continuously welded structural tubing with no ledges or cracks for pallets to get caught on.

Common customer questions

Questions about Keystone Pallet Rack

These answers provide a starting point. Final equipment, capacity, layout and installation requirements must be confirmed for the specific facility and application.

How is pallet-rack capacity determined?

Beam capacity depends on the beam model, length, connector and load distribution. Frame capacity depends on upright design, frame depth, bracing, unsupported column length and the spacing of beam levels. Use manufacturer or engineer-approved capacity information for the complete configuration.

Do pallet racks need to be anchored?

Industrial pallet rack is generally anchored to a suitable concrete slab according to the approved design, manufacturer requirements and applicable code. Anchor type, embedment and location are project-specific.

How often should pallet rack be inspected?

Employees should report damage as soon as it is observed, with regular documented inspections performed at intervals appropriate to traffic, impacts and risk. A qualified person should evaluate questionable damage.
